RX-78-2 Gundam is the iconic protagonist mobile suit from the original 1979 anime series Mobile Suit Gundam. It was a prototype close-quarters combat mobile suit developed by the Earth Federation during the One Year War and was famously piloted by the main character, Amuro Ray.
